IRVING – Cowboys coach Bill Parcells has a message for his team – win now.
With back-to-back games at Texas Stadium against the New York Giants (Sunday) and Pittsburgh (Oct. 17), the Cowboys (2-1) are in position to make a first-half run similar to what they did a year ago, when they were 6-2 at the midway point.
Three of the five games that complete the first half are at home, and the road games are at Green Bay (1-3) and Cincinnati (1-3). The second half of the season looks more difficult, especially with December games at Seattle, Philadelphia and the Giants.
"I only think the second half is more challenging if you play well in the first half," Parcells said. "We need to get some things going here, so we'll see."
Defensive tackle La'Roi Glover spent Sunday and Monday watching games and came away unimpressed.
"There's not one team that scares me," Glover said. "Not one team in the NFC that I say would give us a hard time and we can't compete with. It has to start with the Giants this week. It can't be just lip service. We've got to go out and do it."
